Chiropractic Adjustment

Following consultation and examination, a program of care will be designed and customized to your specific needs. This program is generally centered around the chiropractic adjustment, a method of treatment unique to chiropractic, which corrects spinal subluxations and dysfunction. The primary goal of an adjustment is to improve spinal alignment and motion, thereby relieving nerve irritation, pressure, and pain.

You may feel immediate improvement after an adjustment, although most people experience gradual, progressive relief of symptoms. Since adjustments restore motion to previously locked joints, ligaments and tendons begin to stretch back to their normal length. This lengthening may cause slight muscle soreness similar to that brought on by rigorous exercise. If you experience these sensations, be assured that within days you’ll likely be enjoying the benefits of improved spinal motion with less pain that results from a healthier spine.

Massage Therapy

We provide medical and sports massage therapy utilizing deep tissue and cross friction techniques and strain/counter-strain stretching to decrease muscle spasm, increase circulation and reduce muscle insertion and tendon stress. Massage ffosters fast

faster healing of strained muscles and sprained ligaments; reduces pain and swelling; reduces formation of excessive scar tissue.

Massage therapy services are provided by licensed massage therapist Beth Shine and supervised University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic interns.

Therapy Modalities

Our office utilizes several forms of basic therapeutic modalities designed to reduce your pain and to accelerate healing. You'll find that we take your comfort seriously and develop ways compliment the benefits of our hands on care.

Therapeutic Ultrasound is a high frequency sound wave which enters the skin through a conductive gel to provide deep heat and a cleansing therapeutic effect. It helps to increase local blood flow and helps rid the damaged cells of toxins which accumulate in an inflamed tissue.

Interferential Current muscle stimulation is often prescribed for the treatment of chronic and/or acute post-traumatic pain. It is also used for the relaxation of muscle spasm, the prevention of disuse atrophy, increasing local blood circulation, muscle re-education, and increasing ranges of motion.

Intersegmental Traction is an important part of treatment plans which are designed to alleviate compressive injuries such as disc degeneration and joint inflammation. The act of gently separating the compressed tissues is very soothing and comfortable, leading to a reduction in pain and an increase in flexibility.

Hot and Cold packs. Moist heat increases blood circulation and reduces muscle spasm and tension. Often we apply it along with interferential muscle stimulation.

Neck De

This relatively new product by Bodyline Comfort Systems works similar to a blood pressure cuff as it provides a graduated decompression of the spinal discs reducing pressure on nerve roots and helping to align facet joints. It is extremely comfortable unlike typical cervical traction. It will not irritate the ears, jaw joints, or occipital condyles. The Neck Decompressor is portable and made to last. It is highly recommended by our patients who use it for 10 minutes once or twice per day, usually first thing in the morning, and then either when they get home from work or later in the evening.

Biofreeze Analgesic

Invented by a chemist for his arthritic grandmother, Biofreeze can only be obtained through doctors, therapists and trainers. It works better than any other topical analgesic you may have tried. The anti-inflammation properties of the plant ingredient, Ilex, penetrate deeply into muscles and joints. The therapeutic effect is long lasting, but the unpleasant odor does not linger very long. Biofreeze comes in a squeeze-out gel or roll-on bottle.
